Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Secret Cleared Network Engineer to support critical network operations aboard U.S. Navy hospital ships in Norfolk, VA. This role is primarily onsite and requires regular shipboard presence, including extended deployments overseas. When homeported, this individual will work directly aboard the ships and collaborate closely with the shipboard CIO, supporting daily network operations and issue resolution. During deployments or yard periods, this individual will operate in high-tempo, mission‑critical environments, ensuring secure, reliable enterprise and healthcare network services. This role requires flexibility, strong technical depth, and readiness to deploy on short notice (as little as 5 days).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day network operations support aboard Navy hospital ships
- Serve as the primary technical interface with the shipboard CIO for network-related issues
- Perform switch upgrades, firewall administration, and network configurations
- Support VoIP phone system upgrades and maintenance
- Maintain and troubleshoot campus, wireless, voice, storage networking, and SATCOM environments
- Support healthcare IT systems within shipboard medical facilities
- Participate in shipyard periods (2-week rotations once per month when homeported)
- Remain available and remote-capable when ships are not in port
- Deploy overseas on ship rotations every other year, with deployments ranging from 3 to 6 months
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance (must be eligible for TS; Active TS preferred)
- 10 years of experience in Enterprise IT environments (can accept a Bach and 6 years of hands-on networking experience)
- 2 years of experience supporting Healthcare Informatics systems
- DoD IAT II or III Certification
- Cisco Networking Certification
- CCNA or CCNP (required)
- Experience with:
- Cisco campus, wireless, voice, and storage networking
- Network security fundamentals
- SATCOM fundamentals
- Ability to deploy on short notice and work in austere environments
Nice to Have
- Palo Alto firewall experience (highly desired)
Salary : $105,000 - $120,000
