What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Design Engineer position at Insight Global?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Design shelters and mechanical systems, including rack installations, ECU integrations, entry panels, and other related components.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings and engage in design reviews with customers.
- Analyze customer requirements such as specifications, Statements of Work (SOWs), and interface drawings to ensure contract compliance.
- Develop and maintain detailed task lists for assigned projects.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets to ensure alignment with program goals.
- Identify and initiate procurement of long-lead materials.
- Provide technical direction and support to the CAD design team.
- Review and approve engineering drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical questions and resolve issues.
- Develop technical proposals, documentation, and procurement specifications.
- Support the Sales team with proposal development and engineering cost estimates.
- Review vendor and shop drawings, as well as quotes and proposals.
- Address vendor-related issues and manage the disposition of nonconforming materials.
- Prepare Cost Schedule Impact Logs (CSILs) for scope changes.
- Submit Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) as required.
- Coordinate with customers and contracts to resolve project-related issues.
- Contribute to product enhancements, new product development, and standardization initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Mechanical Engineering Technology (BSMET) required.
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D modeling software.
- Prior experience in defense or DoD-related engineering environments is a plus.
Salary : $35 - $65
