What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Specialist position at Insight Global?
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Instrument & Middleware Validation: Execute validation scripts to ensure lab orders and results flow accurately from Epic → middleware → instruments → EMR.
• Workflow Verification: Confirm orders are received, processed, and resulted correctly across systems; identify any data discrepancies or formatting issues.
• Documentation & Data Capture: Document validation results, including comparing instrument printouts to EMR outputs to ensure data integrity.
• Onsite Lab Support: Work within lab environments to support IT interfacing activities and validation efforts across multiple IU Health sites
• Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner with Clinical IT, Epic teams, and lab staff to support validation efforts (Epic team handles build; this role supports workflow validation).
• Issue Identification: Identify and clearly document workflow/interface issues; escalate to appropriate teams for resolution.
• Training & Ramp Up: Begin by shadowing and working alongside experienced team members before independently supporting sites.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Background as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Technologist (MT), or Clinical Lab Scientist (MLS)
• Experience with lab instrument validation or strong understanding of lab workflows
•Experience working with core lab environments (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis)
• Exposure to instrument interfaces or middleware validation processes
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
•Experience with laboratory middleware/tools such as:
-Roche Navify Operations
-Sysmex Caresphere
-RALS, Synapse/Synaps, or similar systems
