What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Optics Technician position at Insight Global?
We are looking for someone that is looking to further their career and learn more about working in a Lab Optics environment.
The ideal candidate has a strong troubleshooting mindset, experience with optical transport technologies and testing methodologies, and is comfortable working directly with hardware, cabling, and test equipment. They should be detail-oriented, capable of following structured test procedures, documenting results accurately, and partnering closely with engineering teams to validate and troubleshoot new technologies. This person is building, designing, and testing a transceiver module to release to market.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Set up, maintain, and support optical networking lab environments
- Rack, stack, cable, and configure networking and optical equipment
- Execute product validation, certification, and interoperability testing
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, optical, and network connectivity issues
- Capture, analyze, and document test results and defects
- Assist engineers with defect reproduction, root cause analysis, and issue resolution
- Support lab inventory management, hardware upgrades, and equipment maintenance
Compensation:
$20/hr to $28/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
