Position Summary
The Warehouse Lead plays a critical role in overseeing daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety while working in a refinery environment. This role acts as a liaison between warehouse associates and management, coordinating tasks, monitoring productivity, and assisting with training and problem resolution. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to warehouse operations. The Lead Warehouse Technician is also expected to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.

The warehouse is located within the bounds of the Cenovus Superior Refinery and adjacent to refining operations.

- Supervise and support daily warehouse operations such as receiving materials, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control.
- Assign tasks to warehouse staff and monitor performance to meet productivity goals.
- Train new employees and coach team members on safety procedures, operational policies, and equipment use.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintaining accurate and complete material and inventory records
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., logistics, purchasing, customer service) to ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently (forklift certification required).
- Report operational issues and employee performance to the Warehouse Manager.
- Transact all aspects of Materials Management and Inventory Control functionality using the SAP MM and PM modules of the computerized management system.
- Goods verification and receipt.
- Positive Material Identification (PMI) practices.
- Inspect materials for damage and/or defects and confirm technical attributes meet requirements.
- Actively document and track incorrect part attributes and vendor related issues for resolution through the Nonconformance Report (NCR) process.
- Provide quality and timely service to customers at the warehouse counter/window.
- Issue materials to workorders or cost centers as defined on material reservation or picklist.
- Perform physical inventory counts in accordance with the documented cycle count procedure and schedule.
- Manage non-stock materials and direct charge items.
- Small package delivery to the refinery units.
- Support the material preservation process.
- Safe and effective operation of a forklift, Wave, and other lift assist devices.
- Complete daily equipment and weekly warehouse safety audits in accordance with HSEQ Assurance Plan.
- Utilize Microsoft Windows applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) in everyday work.
- Communicating effectively with refinery personnel regarding materials, inventory levels, and inventory control.
- Hazardous Materials Awareness and completion of required training(s).
- Work in a variety of settings from office to warehouse to field installations in all types of weather as needed for effective materials management and inventory control.
- Kit and stage materials as required to support Maintenance execution schedule.
- Actively participate in meetings, group discussions, and company/site safety programs.
- Support turnaround and project activities as applicable.
- Participate in company training and development opportunities.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping and 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain) in all areas of the Warehouse.
