Low-Voltage Technician / Installer
Entry-Level Helper to Certified Technician

Position Overview
inSight AVS is hiring dependable, motivated team members for residential and commercial audio, video, security, networking, lighting, shade, and automation installations.
We are open to applicants at all skill levels—from someone looking to learn the trade as an installation helper to an experienced, certified low-voltage technician capable of independently completing projects.
Your starting pay and position will be based on your current knowledge, experience, certifications, work quality, and ability to work independently.
Types of Work
Our projects may include:
- Security and burglar alarm systems
- Surveillance cameras and NVR systems
- Access-control systems
- Audio and video systems
- Home theaters and television installations
- Whole-home and commercial audio
- Wi-Fi networks and structured cabling
- Cat6, coaxial, speaker wire, fiber, and low-voltage prewiring
- Control4 automation systems
- Lutron lighting and motorized shades
- Equipment racks and system programming
- System troubleshooting, service calls, and customer training
Experience LevelsInstallation Helper — $15–$20 per hour
No professional low-voltage experience is required, but construction, electrical, mechanical, or technical experience is helpful.
Responsibilities may include:
- Pulling and labeling wire
- Loading and unloading materials
- Maintaining clean work areas
- Assisting technicians with installations
- Learning proper tool usage and installation practices
- Attic, crawlspace, ladder, and construction-site work
Low-Voltage Technician — $20–$32 per hour
Applicants should have experience installing and troubleshooting one or more of the following:
- Cat6 and structured wiring
- Security systems
- Surveillance cameras
- Audio/video equipment
- Network equipment
- Access-control systems
- Equipment racks and terminations
Technicians should be able to read job documentation, communicate with customers, complete assigned work efficiently, and properly document completed installations.
Lead / Certified Technician — $32–$45 per hour
Lead technicians should be capable of managing projects with limited supervision.
Preferred experience includes:
- Leading installation crews
- Diagnosing and resolving system problems
- Programming and commissioning systems
- Reading plans, wiring diagrams, and scopes of work
- Coordinating with builders, electricians, and other trades
- Training junior technicians
- Completing accurate job notes and material documentation
Certifications or advanced experience with Control4, Lutron, Alarm.com, Qolsys, Honeywell/Resideo, networking, surveillance, access control, fiber, or similar systems are strongly preferred.
Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass a background check
- Dependable attendance and professional appearance
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
- Ability to safely use ladders and basic hand and power tools
- Comfortable working in attics, crawlspaces, construction sites, and outdoor environments
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly
- Respectful attitude toward customers, coworkers, and customer property
- Willingness to learn new products and technologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous low-voltage, electrical, construction, IT, or telecommunications experience
- Experience terminating Cat6, coaxial cable, speaker wire, security wire, and fiber
- Knowledge of basic networking and IP addressing
- Manufacturer or industry certifications
- Experience documenting materials, customer requests, system information, and completed work
- Ability to troubleshoot independently
- Experience driving a company vehicle and maintaining assigned tools and equipment
Compensation
Pay ranges from $15 to $45 per hour and is based on verified knowledge, experience, certifications, productivity, and ability to complete work independently.
Applicants may be asked to complete a written and hands-on skills assessment to determine their starting position and pay level.
