Director of Finance

Overview:

The Director of Finance will play a critical role in the strategic management of Inside Out Wellness and Advocacy, a dedicated behavioral health non-profit organization. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for behavioral health advocacy. The Director of Finance will oversee all financial activities, ensure financial stability, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organization

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement financial strategies to support the organization’s mission and goals.

2. Provide financial insights and recommendations to executive leadership, including CEO and Board of Directors.

3. Prepare and manage the annual budget, including forecasting and variance analysis.

4. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and executive dashboards.

5. Prepare of financial statements, reports, and audits.

6. Coordinate annual independent financial audits and implementation of audit recommendations.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

7. Oversee grant accounting, restricted funds management, and grant financial reporting.

8. Oversee the financial aspects of fundraising activities and donor relations.

9. Develop and maintain internal control policies and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets.

10. Identify and mitigate financial risks.

11. Implement financial controls and systems to monitor expenses, increase efficiency, and maximize resources.

12. Foster collaboration with other departments to achieve organizational goals.

13. Streamline financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

14. Implement best practices in financial management and operations.

15. Collaborate with external partners, including auditors, banks, and financial advisors.

16. Represent the organization in financial discussions with stakeholders.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provides leadership, direction, performance management, coaching, training, and operational oversight for assigned accounting, billing, revenue cycle, and finance personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Three (3) years of progressive financial experience.
• Two (2) years of progressive supervisory experience.
• Progressive experience with accounting and financial management software such as QuickBooks and MS Excel.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting, budgeting, audits, and financial reporting within the QuickBooks and MS Excel operating system.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience with EHR (Electronic Heath Record) Systems.
• Experience within behavioral health, healthcare, crisis services, community behavioral health, or nonprofit organizations.
• Experience managing government grants and restricted funding.
• Experience presenting financial information to Boards of Directors.

• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling skills.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Work Environment:

Professional office environment with routine use of computers, financial systems, and standard office equipment. Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, communicate, and use standard office equipment for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
