What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housing Coordinator position at Inside Out Reentry Community?
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing case management and coordinating the daily operations of Inside Out’s Reentry House, a transitional sober home for men returning from incarceration. Employees are expected to maintain professionalism and confidentiality as representatives of Inside Out. Employees are expected to approach work through a lens of empathy and equity; to apply compassion, empathy, and inclusivity to all areas of their work; and to demonstrate cultural humility.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a lead for other staff at the house, including assisting with complex issues
- Provide case management re: housing, employment, behavioral health and other needs to house residents, as well as assisting with developing personalized reentry plans and goal setting.
- Provide oversight at Inside Out’s reentry house to ensure house agreements are followed and interpersonal conflicts are managed
- Provide support to Resource Center staff with case management and related duties as needed, including on-site assistance at the Resource Center.
- Review applications and conduct interviews for potential residents, which involves coordinating communication with DOC, DCS and community partners.
- Provide orientation and conduct check-in meetings with house residents
- Facilitate weekly house meetings and assist with conflict negotiation as needed.
- Coordinate and provide referrals, as well as follow up to ensure needs are being met, as well as providing systems advocacy for members as needed.
- Implement services and programs as well as assisting with program development, and community outreach
- Provide transportation and other assistance to members.
- Monitor house maintenance and communicate issues and necessary repairs
Qualifications and Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field of study, or minimum of 1 years of directly related experience, or a combination of education and experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to be compassionate while also confidently addressing conflicts when they arise
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Passion for working with returning citizens and supporting those in recovery
- Commitment to supporting a trauma-informed environment
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Availability Sunday evenings for weekly house meeting
- May require weekend and evening hours if coverage is needed
