The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking Water Safety Aides in our Center for Corporate & Community Education. The Water Safety Aide will assist WaterSafety Instructors (WSI) for Red Cross Swim program levels guiding individualsof diverse age groups in mastering essential swimming techniques. They will work under the supervision of the Water Safety Instructor who isteaching the course. The Water Safety Aide will provide additional attentionand supervision to participants. They will help oversee students’performance, and maintain records of attendance, progress and incidents.

Key Responsibilities For This Position Include
- Demonstrates the skills and proper swimming form being taught by the WSI;
- Assists participants under the direction of the WSI;
- Provides encouragement and motivation to learners;
- Recognizes unsafe conditions and behaviors. Responds either by addressing or reporting situations to the Water Safety Instructor or program administrator;
- Is knowledgeable of course objectives and materials;
- Assists with clerical, supervisory and safety responsibilities;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Proficient swimming abilities
- Comfortable being in the water
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to take direction and initiative, as well as remain alert and attentive
- Weekday and Saturday availability
- Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age, mature and responsible
- Current American Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard or CPR and First Aid certification
Salary: $16.00 per hour
