Job Description:
The University of Florida's Veterinary Community Outreach Program (VCOP) is seeking a Veterinary Assistant with a primary focus on administrative and client service support. This position serves as a key point of contact for the shelters and rescue groups and plays an essential role in day-to-day clinic operations through effective communication, coordination, scheduling, and customer service. In addition to client-facing and administrative responsibilities, the role includes limited assistant duties to support clinical operations as needed. VCOP is designed to expose students to the realities of veterinary practice in both community and shelter medicine settings, while supporting high-volume spay/neuter services and preventive care for canine and feline patients.
Example of Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:
This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.
Expected Salary:
$15-16/hour
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.

- Enter, update, and maintain accurate client and patient information in medical record, including scanning and documenting in records
- Manage invoices and enter charges
- Collaborate with the team to create and manage the weekly surgery schedule
- Maintain an organized inventory system and order supplies on a regular
- Assist with processing laundry
- Handle patients safely as needed
