Job Summary
Utility Worker I (Logistics) position will be initially assigned to the moving and setup area of University Operations and Event Services. This role performs manual, unskilled, and semi-skilled work involving moving furniture, delivering supplies and equipment, event and office setups, and other duties as assigned. Tasks do not require a high degree of manipulative skill. However, as the candidate gains more experience, employees may be assigned more difficult tasks.
Responsibilities
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Walks assigned areas of campus to inspect furniture and equipment for damage, reporting findings so that repairs can be scheduled.; Delivers freight, furniture, and supplies based on customer requests and work order assignments.; Assists with special projects, such as setting up and moving furniture or equipment for special events on or off campus.; Reads work orders and follows instructions.; Assists in emergency preparations, such as clearing snow, ice, felled trees and limbs, etc. from sidewalks, roadways, and driveways.; Operates delivery trucks or other equipment to assist in loading or moving materials and products.; Works with moving and set up teams and groundskeeping teams.; Serve as a brand ambassador of University Operations and Columbus State University.; Other duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications include: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training.
Proposed Salary
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $27,836 - $29,816 and includes full benefits.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include: Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. or more.; Ability to perform heavy lifting and strenuous manual tasks.; Ability to operate warehouse, delivery, and power equipment, such as hand trucks, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc.; Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.; A valid driver's license is required for this position.
