Job Description:
The Systems Admin/Programmer III serves as the CLAS IT lead administrator for Microsoft server infrastructure and related enterprise systems that support the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of cloud and on-premises Windows server environments, Active Directory services, and associated Microsoft technologies. The role supports core infrastructure services, system performance, storage capacity, identity and access management, backup and recovery, and modernization efforts related to Azure/Entra environments. This position also provides advanced technical expertise for escalated support issues, infrastructure planning, and operational stability across the CLAS IT environment.
Infrastructure Administration
The salary is $82,000 - $90,000.
This is a TEAMS position—UF's designation for staff roles—eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including paid leave, retirement plans, and health insurance. Learn more about TEAMS benefits here.

Infrastructure Administration
- Plan, implement, and maintain Windows Server-based systems and related infrastructure
- Administer cloud and on-premises Windows server environments
- Maintain virtual systems hosted in approved campus cloud environments
- Support the transition from legacy Active Directory services to Azure/Entra-based environments
- Configure and maintain Microsoft infrastructure components to support secure, reliable service delivery
- Maintain day-to-day operation of servers, storage, printing, and related systems
- Install and configure new systems and infrastructure components
- Conduct capacity planning to support future growth and operational needs
- Monitor system performance and maintain operational stability
- Implement, maintain, and regularly test backup and recovery practices to support data integrity and business continuity
- Respond to escalated tickets from the Help Desk
- Troubleshoot complex server, infrastructure, and systems-related issues
- Collaborate with tier 1 support staff to ensure timely and effective issue resolution
- Audit Windows server configurations and maintain related documentation
- Update security group permissions and system configuration settings
- Review and maintain configurations to support security, stability, and consistency
- Recommend improvements to strengthen system performance, reliability, and infrastructure security

- Experience with server virtualization required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft online platforms, including SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Azure/Entra, Autopilot, and Defender for Endpoint preferred.
