The student assistant will be responsible for various office duties within the department and will work closely with the Office Manager, Intelligence Community Center for Academic Excellence (ICCAE) Program Manager, Department Chair and Faculty/GTA’s within the Political Science department. - Provide general administrative assistance in a busy office environment
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations
- Assist staff and students with office equipment (copiers, printers, scanners, MFDs)
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and report problems as needed
- Ensure equipment areas remain organized and functional
- Assist with updating office websites and online content, create graphics for flyers, newsletters, and online communications using tools such as Adobe Spark, InDesign, Qualtrics, and/or Canva
- Help maintain a neat, organized office environment and track, organize, and replenish office supply inventory
- Coordinate supply requests and communicate needs to appropriate staff
- Assist with department graduation activities, setup, coordination, and breakdown as needed
- Provide support for department events, meetings, and special programs
- Serve as a runner between the office and other parts of campus as needed
- Deliver or retrieve documents and materials in a timely manner
- Must be undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing, as indicated in application materials.
- Experience with Microsoft Word Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as indicated in application materials.
- Experience with event planning and promotion, as indicated in application materials.
- Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator, and Canva, as indicated in application materials.
- Strong written communication skills, as evidenced by cover letter.
- Experience with survey design software such as Qualtrics and Survey Monkey, as indicated in application materials.
- Experience in developing online newsletters, as indicated in application materials.
- Experience with social media platforms, as indicated in application materials.
