Nature & Purpose Of Position
To Start in the Fall 2026 Semester (August 2026). This work will predominantly include deliberative dialogues and non-partisan voter engagement at SHSU.
Job Duties Will Entail
- Meeting planning deadlines and being an active spokesperson.
- Planning, co-managing, and co-leading deliberative dialogues.
- Planning, co-managing, and co-leading civic professional development at SHSU.
- Carry out voter registration and voter education activities at SHSU.
- Complete orientations, weekly timesheets, regular check-ins with the ADP/CCE, campus partners, and county/state/national affiliates.
- Participate in professional development associated with civic engagement and campus initiatives (i.e. leadership, skill-building, election law training, historical-context discussion blocks, deliberative dialogues, moderator, perspectives, discussion blocks, and more)
- Complete written reflections. Attend reflection meetings.
- Contribute to the collection and dissemination of promotion/imagery of events via social media.
- Attend campus, local, and potentially regional/state/national meetings to learn new skills, discuss issues, and network with other students and organizations passionate about civic engagement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements for the Position:
- Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality policies (data and sensitive information).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
- Ability to be flexible and change duties with short notice as needed.
- Requires good verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a full-time, degree-seeking student and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.
- Work between 10-19 hours per week.
- Be reliable, professional, and willing to learn.
