Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Two years relevant specialist experience or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education and related certifications is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose Of Position
Performs highly advanced and complex specialist duties for the Student Account Services at Sam Houston State University requiring subject-matter knowledge of departmental processes and operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Advanced Support and Technical Oversight: Provides technical and general assistance to university departments and students via various channels (phone, chat, email, in-person). Guides users through complex technical procedures related to Bearkat OneCard and Cashiering Services. Monitors hardware and software, troubleshoots issues, and ensures smooth project timelines.
Data Evaluation and Insights: Collects, compiles, and assesses data from various sources to evaluate department effectiveness. Uses analytical skills to identify trends and recommend improvements.
Collaboration and Communication: Participates in committees, project teams, and outreach initiatives. Collaborates with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into system requirements.
Training and Documentation: Trains users on new systems and contribute to official university documents. Creates clear and concise documentation for efficient system usage.
Marketing Integration: Collaborates with marketing teams to align technical solutions with strategic goals. Understands marketing campaigns, including website design and video content.
Support Campus-Wide Student Initiatives: Oversees and supports the operational and technical needs of major campus-wide initiatives, includes Orientation and Bearkat Kickoff, contributes to efforts that advance student enrollment, retention, and academic success.
Optimizes university operations, support student success, and bridge the gap between technology and departmental collaboration. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Requires detailed knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Requires thorough knowledge of office systems. Must have the ability to solve operational problems and make suggestions for process improvement. Preferred knowledge of SQL, database management, and Power BI. Familiarity with marketing principles, including website design and video production.
