Murray State University seeks an innovative Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs to serve as the University’s chief academic officer and partner with President Ron Patterson in advancing academic excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities
A Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or appropriate terminal degree) from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience And Skill Requirements
Direct experience with professional program accreditation and managing complex academic portfolios.

Summary Of Job Duties And Responsibilities
Murray State University seeks an innovative Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs to serve as the University’s chief academic officer and partner with President Ron Patterson in advancing academic excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide vision and leadership for all areas of Academic Affairs, including six colleges, the School of Nursing & Health Professions, the School of Agriculture, libraries, research centers, and academic support units
- Guide program development, accreditation, and resource alignment
- Lead faculty recruitment, development, and student success initiatives
- Oversee academic budgets, accreditation processes, and compliance
- Partner with deans to launch new professional programs (dental hygiene, veterinary medicine)
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative academic culture
A Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D., or appropriate terminal degree) from an accredited institution.
Minimum Experience And Skill Requirements
- A Scholarly record (peer-reviewed publications/creative activity) commensurate with appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in an academic department.
- Proven record of with a minimum of five years of academic administrative leadership with oversight of program development, accreditation, and budget management
- Strong financial and resource stewardship skills
- Demonstrated success in faculty and student success initiatives
Direct experience with professional program accreditation and managing complex academic portfolios.
