Description
Dr. Motallebi is recruiting a post-doctoral fellow who will work on forest owners' perception and awareness towards conservation practices incentives and their management strategies to build natural disasters resiliency. The final candidate will work with an interdisciplinary group of faculty, government agencies, Extension Associates, non-profit organizations to design a cost-benefit analysis tool for implementing conservation practices and post-disaster forest management strategies in SC, NC, and GA. This study requires a significant amount of interaction and communication with state agencies, non-profits, and forest owners. The specific objectives of the research will be in line with the project and program goals. The post-doc funding is for two years.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a strong background in forest resources, natural resource economics, applied statistics, social sciences, or related disciplines. The successful candidate is expected to have strong skills in econometrics and sufficient knowledge in forestry production. They must, also, be proficient in GIS. A Ph.D. degree is required for applicants. Experience in the field - forest economics, agricultural economics, conservation planning, working with academic and non-academic agencies, and previous research experiences are major plus points. The successful applicant will work in an interdisciplinary environment and will collaborate with the research teams of Drs. Paula Agudelo, Joan Ureta (post-doctoral fellow), a group of faculty from Appalachian State University, and Clemson Cooperative Extension.
