Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Peer Academic Coach. The Peer Academic Coaching program supplements Professional Academic Coaching. Peer Coaches play an essential role in Academic Coaching and provide additional support and guidance for the student body. Peer Academic Coaches create coaching relationships with the student body, support other students in the development of their academic skills, and promote UNG Academic Coaching for University College. Peer Academic Coaching programs are currently offered on the Gainesville, Oconee and Dahlonega campuses.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with UNG 1101 courses across all campuses and support the CLPP program at the Gainesville Campus as part of the Pathway initiative.
- Host group coaching sessions, tabling events, and coaching workshops on a bi-weekly basis to engage and support students.
- Maintain weekly office hours to provide individualized coaching and academic support.
- Assist with student outreach efforts, including contributing to podcasting projects and managing social media engagement.
- Work closely with professional coaches to develop your skills as a leader and coach, enhancing your ability to support peers effectively.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Academic Success Strategies: Time Management, Study Skills, Note Taking, Test Prep
- Familiarity with UNG Resources: Tutoring, SI, Financial Wellbeing, Counseling, Dean of Students
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage with students one-on-one and in groups
- Leadership & Initiative: Proactively hosting events and outreach efforts, and taking initiative in student engagement.
- Collaboration & Teamwork: Working closely with professional coaches, faculty, and other peer coaches across campuses.
Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker
- Must have and maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA.
