Position Summary
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time physiatrist trained in PEDIATRIC REHABILITATION MEDICINE to join our rapidly expanding academic department. Rank based on experience and qualifications. This position will provide both inpatient and outpatient pediatric rehabilitation services across our outpatient clinics and UNC Children’s Hospital.
The position will be expected to provide excellent clinical care to children and adolescents with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain injury and other congenital and acquired pediatric conditions as part of a multidisciplinary team practicing in a beautiful outpatient rehabilitation center that includes on-site therapy and prosthetic/orthotic services. They will also be expected to see inpatient consultations at the NC Children’s Hospital, help build and direct new multidisciplinary clinics, and will have the opportunity to assist with ITB pump management, and pediatric EMG/NCVS testing.
This position will also participate in teaching, research, program development, quality, and administrative activities associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. The individual will participate in existing programs and will have the opportunity to lead and develop new clinical, research and educational programs within the institution.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R plus be subspecialty board eligible/certified in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership abilities, a history of program development, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and have the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care.
