Montgomery College is seeking a part-time adjunct instructor for its in-person GED classes in an education setting located at the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center. The instructor will be responsible for:
- Teaching all areas required for completion of the GED®.
- Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives.
- Abiding by all College policies and procedures.
- Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the MoCo Reconnect Drop-In Center.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching ABE-ASE classes or high school classes.
- Experience working with individuals from varied cultural, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the ability to apply trauma-informed practices in all interactions.
- Proven experience in delivery of high quality, effective GED® instruction to adult learners.
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the Special Programs Coordinator at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
- Master’s degree in education or related educational field, or in one or more areas covered on the GED® exam: Science, Mathematics, Language Arts or Social Studies.
- Proven ability to deliver high quality, effective GED® instruction that meets a range of adult learning needs with a focus on measurable learning outcomes.
- A background in counseling or related field with a focus on trauma or trauma-informed care.
