Educational And Experience Requirement
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Minimum of four years journeyperson level painting experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose Of Position
Provides skilled services as a painter. Works under general direction in painting and repairing for painting both interiors and exteriors of facilities assigned.
Primary Responsibilities
Finishing; plastering; painting with brush, roller, or spray equipment. Plastering includes new and patch work. Finishing includes taping and floating of sheetrock. Application of acoustical material to ceilings and refinishing furniture. Performs periodic inspection as required. Performs other related duties as assigned
Other Specifications
Use of spray equipment (airless and conventional); scaffolding and ladders; electric sanders; paint brushes and rollers; and sheetrock and plastering equipment. Proficiency required in all phases of work. Exposure to paint fumes from oil base paints. Work in window jacks sometimes at 4th floor level. Work occasionally includes high places, mechanical rooms, plant environments, kneeling, bending, and crawling. Work schedules may vary according to departmental needs. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self and others.
Uniforms and identification badges are provided by the University according to departmental policy.
Requires driving and operating a university vehicle; therefore, a valid Texas driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the university’s insurance carrier is required.
