Job Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Department Management, the Painter:
- Receives and completes work orders while maintaining accurate records on material and labor used
- Detects needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment by following established inspection procedures
- Smooths and prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint
- Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or other fillers
- Tapes, floats, finishes, and textures walls and ceilings
- Removes graffiti from the interior and exterior of buildings
- Repairs glass of building windows
- Prepares all painted signs required by the Campus
- Erects scaffolding or sets up ladder to perform tasks above ground level
- Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (SAP) for work order processing.
- Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers, and applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects
- Stains, seals, and varnishes wood surfaces
- Performs maintenance roof coatings and repairs
- Performs mold and paint removal
- Operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures that equipment is in safe operating condition
- Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Stores, handles, and disposes of paint, stain, varnish, and other chemicals according to established procedures
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work areas and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
- Ensures proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
