The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience

Position Summary:

Perform molecular diagnostic laboratory testing in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs). Testing materials include animal specimens that may contain a variety of infectious diseases.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies:

Knowledge and skills of molecular biology, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis and next-generation sequencing. Ability to work in a team setting and provide general assistance to other personnel.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Conduct diagnostic and surveillance testing, including handling specimens, nucleic acid extraction, performing PCR, real-time PCR, digital PCR, gel electrophoresis, PCR product cleanup and next-generation sequencing. The testing process also includes data interpretation and reporting of test results.

Assist in maintenance of lab equipment, supplies and inventory. Maintain necessary records and laboratory reports and other related duties assigned by the Faculty Supervisor and Laboratory Supervisor.

Assist research projects including planning & conducting experiments, analyzing data and reporting results. Participate in required proficiency tests.
