Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The Chancellor’s Science Scholars Program is at the forefront of efforts to increase diversity among future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and related fields. Created in 2013, the program supports a diverse group of high-achieving undergraduate students who have an interest in pursuing a PhD or combined MD/PhD in STEM and an interest in the advancement of underrepresented minorities in the sciences and related fields.- Work with other program staff, Executive Director, Registrar’s Office, and faculty to coordinate course requests.
Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified instructor to support academic programming during the summer session. This role will involve administering and grading a comprehensive exam, evaluating student performance data, and identifying key areas for growth across the cohort. Based on this assessment, the instructor will design and lead a series of 4-6 targeted evening workshops or content sessions aimed at strengthening student understanding and skills. Sessions will be held on a consistent weekday schedule and should incorporate interactive, outcomes-focused instruction tailored to student needs.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Management Preferences
Experience leading classroom activities, conducting workshops, or evaluating student performance.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong teaching, assessment, and curriculum development skills.
Ability to translate evaluation results into effective, engaging learning experiences.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
