Life Science Research Professional 1 – Xiao Lab (Onsite Work Agreement)

The Xiao Laboratory is a part of the Stanford Biochemistry and Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI). We are a chemical systems biology group focused on developing creative mass spectrometry (MS)-based strategies, combined with data science, to understand mechanisms of metabolic regulation over protein function in health and disease. We aim to use this as a basis to develop translational therapeutics for aging, metabolic disease, and cancer. SCI is one of an elite number of National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, and is a prominent, dynamic, growing and complex Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine. The SCI actively works to build synergies and collaborations among faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments across Stanford University. Given the SCI’s mission, breadth, and depth, it employs over 325 staff members in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and forward-thinking environment with tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth. You will be working with an unparalleled leading-edge community of faculty and staff who work on both basic science and clinical/translational investigations, and who are fundamentally changing the world of biomedical science and health care.

We are seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform experiments and data analysis, to contribute to publications, and to support activities in a newly-established group at Stanford. The successful candidate will perform molecular biology experiments involving genetic and pharmacological interventions in cells, as well as functional assays. The candidate will also have the opportunity to perform animal experiments, proteomics, metabolomics, and computational analyses that interface with ongoing biology efforts in the laboratory. The LSRP1 will be able to directly work with the principal investigator and other members of the lab in a collaborative environment. We are seeking candidates with excellent organizational and communication skills. Our staff embrace challenges with a high degree of professionalism, initiative and flexibility.
