The Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a full-time lecturer of French to begin August 16, 2026. This position is benefit eligible. The successful candidate will be able to teach all levels of French language as well as occasional English-language courses in our Intercultural Studies program. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable experience in second language acquisition or languages for the professions. Candidates’ application materials should provide evidence of the candidate’s ability to contribute to a multi-language department that values a variety of perspectives. The teaching load for this position is 30 credits per year (approximately equivalent to a 5-5 load).Required qualifications: Required qualifications: Master’s degree in French, French and Francophone Studies, or a closely related field; Experience teaching language and culture courses to students from a broad range of majors at a US institution of higher education; and near-native fluency in French and English. Evidence of proficiency in teaching with technology. Preferred qualifications: PhD is French, French and Francophone Studies, or a closely related field. Evidence of exceptional teaching. Evidence of interest in ongoing professional development. Demonstrate background/experience in second language acquisition or languages for the professions.
