Job Title:Instructional Design Specialist

Department:Veterinary Medicine | Student Affairs

The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist. The Instructional Designer will serve as a key strategic partner to faculty and instructional staff within The Ohio State University (OSU) DVM program, significantly shaping the future of veterinary medical education. This role requires applying evidence-based instructional design principles and innovative educational technology to design, develop, evaluate, and continuously improve engaging, effective, and high-quality learning experiences. Supporting the growing class as part of the Protect Ohio initiative, this individual will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including platforms like AWSQ, to enhance pedagogical methods and scale curricular content and assessment banks within the DVM curriculum. Furthermore, the designer will develop forward-focused strategies to efficiently scale clinical repositories to enhance clinical reasoning teaching and assure the continuous improvement of the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with faculty and instructional staff to analyze and manage instructional needs.
  • Apply evidence-based instructional design principles (Quality Matters) to co-develop learning objectives, content, and activities to ensure alignment with curricular outcomes.
  • Enhance the instructional capacity of DVM faculty by providing training, support, and resources on effective instructional design, educational technology, and the pedagogical use of AI tools.

Additional Information

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or equivalent experience
  • Work experience (minimum of 2 years) in a higher education setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using the Canvas Learning Management System
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using multimedia educational tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Artificial Intelligence
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects and deadlines

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design.
  • Work experience (minimum of 3 years) in a higher education professional school setting.
  • Experience within the content areas of veterinary medicine.

Target Salary Range: $55,700.00 - $72,700.00 per year; commensurate with experience, internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
