Primary Purpose Of The Organizational Unit:

Facilities Operations has the responsibility of providing a wide range of services to all administrative departments, student programs, and all academic schools and departments. Services include all aspects of corrective and preventive maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure maintenance and operations, business operations, safety, regulator compliance, project management, and renovations. These duties are conducted for a campus consisting of 100 buildings totaling 6 million gross square feet on nearly 300 acres.

The primary purpose of this position is the responsibility for the daily operation and maintenance of all HVAC & Refrigeration equipment in all areas of the campus, including the repair, replacement, installation and maintenance of air conditioning equipment ranging from 1875-ton centrifugal chillers to window air conditioning units. This position is also responsible for the scheduling of preventive and corrective maintenance in all areas of campus. This position is a lead position with full responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all HVAC and refrigeration equipment on campus. Supervisor may assign other job related duties not specifically listed under essential tasks.

This position is a mandatory position as defined in the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.

This position requires working an emergency call-back rotation and may be called in for emergency response during nights, weekends, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK. SOME POSITIONS MAY REQUIRE SPECIAL LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION. OPTIONAL GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE IN THE TRADE AREA RELATED TO THE AREA OF ASSIGNMENT MAY BE SUBSTITUTED ON A YEAR-FOR-YEAR BASIS.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, And Certificates:

Must have a valid driver’s license.

Universal CFC Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of directly related experience
  • Universal CFC Certification
  • HVAC Degree or Certification
  • Chiller experience a plus
  • BAS Control experience a plus

Alternate Option:

Key Responsibility:

Maintenance and Operations of Chillers

Essential Tasks:

  • Daily chiller inspections and logging information
  • Oil samples and changes
  • Analyzes and treats cooling tower water
  • Rods chillers
  • Trouble shoots water, refrigerant, and electrical aspects of chillers
  • Maintenance and repairs of purge units
  • Reclaims refrigerant to protect the atmosphere
  • Demonstrates knowledge to maintain and repair the chillers
