St. Charles Community College is looking for a Grant Writer/Specialist to assist in Workforce and Community Education Department.

Position Summary

The Grant Writer/Specialist is a member of the Workforce and Community Education Team. The Grant Writer/Specialist will assist with research, preparation and submission of grants in alignment with SCC's strategic goals. The Grant Writer/Specialist will also assist with the coordination of grant proposals/reports and support fiscal and operational staff in compliance with funding guidelines and criteria. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on clear writing and outcome measurement.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Assist with grant proposal development and submission-preparing and organizing materials for proposals and monitoring status of submitted proposals, activities could include:

  • Drafting proposals/Letters of Intent, grant application narratives, and budgets.

Assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.

Writing, creating, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, graphics, tables, conclusions, and organization credentials.

Maintains quality results by using templates; preparing logic models; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.

Coordinating submission of grant applications.

  • Exploring and research funding opportunities and fulfilling site visit requirements.
  • Maintaining master calendar of grants and prospects and all associated files and correspondence.
  • Maintaining library of grant support documents including resumes, bios, etc.
  • Work with Implementation team to maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurement and grant budgets including:
  • Monitoring and maintaining funder reporting schedules and requirements.
  • Assisting implementation team in drafting compelling progress reports and targeted program updates.
  • Assembling all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, etc.; submit reports to funders.
  • Supporting fiscal and operational staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Skills

Bachelor's degree

One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of federal, corporate, foundation and/or other professional granting/funding sources.

Knowledge of granting/funding sources and application processes.

Writing, research, and verbal communication skills.

Interpersonal/human relations skills.

Ability to listen and develop information into grant/funding applications.

Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, maintain confidentiality, and to pay attention to detail.PREFERRED QUALIICATIONS:

Three to five years of experience including grant writing preferred.
