Position Summary:
The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities supports the mission of Student Activities by fostering student engagement, campus connection, and school spirit through campus-wide programming and departmental initiatives. Reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Student Activities, this position focuses primarily on supporting major campus traditions, student engagement initiatives, marketing and social media efforts, collaboration coordination, and administrative operations for Student Activities and the Coastal Activities Board (CAB). The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities will work a maximum of 20 hours per week during one academic year. Reappointment for a second academic year will be contingent upon the graduate assistant’s performance and supervisor evaluation.

Primary Responsibilities
Event Planning & Program Support
- Assist with the planning and execution of departmental initiatives including, but not limited to, Teal Nation Welcome events, Coastal Colors Day, Homecoming programs, the Athenaeum Toast, Finals Frenzy, and CINO Day.
- Plan and execute the Spirit of the Chanticleer Brunch during Homecoming Week in the fall semester.
- Represent Student Activities at campus events, department-sponsored programs, and student engagement fairs as needed.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support cross-campus engagement opportunities and departmental initiatives.
- Provide programmatic support to the Coastal Activities Board (CAB) as needed.
- Oversee inventory management and operational logistics, ensuring supplies, promotional items, and storage spaces remain organized and maintained.
- Support administrative operations through email communication, data tracking, event logistics, assessment collection, and documentation management.
- Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration requests for Student Activities and the Coastal Activities Board (CAB) by reviewing incoming requests and routing them to the appropriate personnel for review.
- Track completed collaboration agreements and monitor timelines to ensure all deadlines and requirements are met.
- Collaborate with Student Activities professional staff to improve processes and enhance the student experience.
- Support departmental data collection practices by assisting with the collection, organization, and tracking of program assessment data and participant feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Create marketing materials and promotional content for departmental initiatives and campus programs.
- Manage departmental social media accounts by creating content, promoting events, and supporting student engagement through digital communication and outreach efforts.
- Assist with the planning and execution of Student Staff Training in collaboration with Student Activities professional staff.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to undergraduate student leaders supporting Student Activities initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Must be an active CCU student.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Coastal Carolina University taking between 6-9 credit hours.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in student affairs, higher education, event planning, or related fields.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office.
