Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Fire Marshal in Environmental Health & Safety.
The Fire Marshal leads the Fire Safety Division within the Environmental Health and Safety Department, providing strategic direction and collaborative leadership supporting the University’s fire safety compliance. This role is responsible for developing and implementing programs that reduce the risk and impact of fire-related incidents, coordinating administrative measures to minimize operational disruptions, and ensuring adherence to all applicable codes, laws, regulations, standards, and best practices.

Preferred: Experience in developing fire prevention curriculum and training programs. Demonstrated success in planning and managing large-scale special events. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with public safety agencies and institutions of higher education. Familiarity with or experience using fire safety and prevention management software.

Proven written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to communicate successfully with diverse constituencies. Must have good organizational skills and the ability to analyze facts and make sound decisions and use good judgement. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.

SC State Pay Band: 07. Salary range: $57,334.00 (minimum) – $81,707.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Fire Marshal works irregular hours and is on-call for fire-related incidents. Responds to fire alarm activations and fire-related incidents as the lead Fire Safety representative with authorities having jurisdiction. Serves as the primary representative for Emergency Support Function-4 and reports to the CCU Emergency Operations Center when activated. Works high-impact events on campus, coordinating external fire departments and contracted emergency medical services for first aid and transport. Works indoors and outdoors in hot and humid conditions.
