Job Description
Position Summary The Ohio State University Medical Center?s mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, teaching and research. The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOCN) assists/provides nursing care to patients with ostomies, wounds, or skin conditions using specialized nursing knowledge and clinical expertise. In addition, serves as a resource person for the patient, family, health care team members and community at large. The WOCN coordinates the nursing plan of care of patients with fecal and urinary diversions, wounds, drains, skin care problems, and incontinence.Scope of Position The WOCN is an integral member of the patient care team as well as with other patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient?s involvement in the plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of stay and decreasing costs.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of accredited school of nursing and current licensure as an RN in the State of Ohio. BSN or demonstrates evidence of continuing work toward a BSN. Successful completion of an approved program of Enterostomal Therapy is required. Must have a minimum of 18 months nursing experience in an acute care setting.
