The Director, Teacher Certification provides leadership for all certification and assessment functions within the School of Education. The director oversees preparation, monitoring, and support systems to ensure teacher candidates successfully meet the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) requirements. This position designs, facilitates, and leads targeted workshops, and diagnostic assessments aligned with FTCE competencies, while collaborating with faculty and program leadership to strengthen content knowledge, test-taking skills, and overall certification readiness. The Director uses performance data to guide interventions and contributes to continuous improvement efforts that enhance candidate success. This is a temporary grant funded position contingent upon grant funding through September 30, 2026. This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.

What you will be doing
- Provides leadership and supervision to personnel within the Office of Certification and Assessment ensuring the quality, consistency, and successful execution of all student assessments
- Ensures the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of certification preparation and assessment processes
- Designs, implements, and oversees Florida Teacher Certification examinations (FTCE) preparation systems, including workshops, boot camps, review sessions, and online modules
- Uses diagnostic and performance data to identify trends, gaps, and intervention needs across programs
- Develops and oversees individualized certification preparation plans for candidates at risk of delayed progression
- Collaborates with program chairs, faculty, and the Director of Clinical Teaching to align coursework, field experiences, and assessments with FTCE competencies
- Collaborates faculty in embedding FTCE-aligned skills and assessments into coursework.
- Monitors and reports FTCE pass rates and certification outcomes to School and College leadership
- Ensures compliance with Florida Department of Education (FDOE) certification requirements and exam updates
- Supports accreditation, FDOE reporting, and institutional effectiveness initiatives related to certification and assessment
- Participates in orientations, information sessions, and advising initiatives related to certification pathways
- Maintains accurate documentation and data systems related to candidate certification progress
- Ensures confidentiality and compliance with institutional and state policies
- Promotes FTCE resources and support services across programs and cohorts
- Ensures candidates understand test registration, deadlines, and certification policies
- Maintains accurate documentation of advising activities, participation, and candidate progress
- Ensures confidentiality and compliance with institutional and state guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree from an accredited college/university and three (3) years of directly related experience; or Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in relevant field and seven (7) years of directly related experience
- Knowledge and understanding of college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices and Universal Core Curricula
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge with the teaching-learning cycle
- Working knowledge in mentoring pre-service teachers
- Practical expertise utilizing clinical supervision models
- Possess a high level of effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments
- Ability to travel between Campuses and events as needed
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff
- This function/position has been designated as "critical". This means that it has job duties that affect the security, safety or physical operation of the College, and are required to work at the Emergency Operations Center and/or have access to the incident scene once normal campus operations have been suspended.
