Responsibilities
Strategic leadership & program development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for military and adult education programming, including degree-completion, certificate, and workforce development programs.
- Identify emerging needs of military-affiliated and adult learner populations and design responsive academic pathways in collaboration with academic deans and department chairs.
- Lead efforts to expand online, hybrid, and accelerated program offerings to remove barriers for non-traditional students.
- Serve as the university's primary point of contact for military installation education centers on Georgia installations.
- Oversee VA educational benefits certifications and ensure institutional compliance with all federal and state regulations, including the Department of Defense MOU, Principles of Excellence, and the 8 Keys to Veterans' Success.
- Provide collaboration for Military and Adult Education and Student Success to provide wraparound support for student veterans and military dependents.
- Pursue and maintain Military Friendly designation and other recognitions that affirm institutional commitment to military-connected students.
- Develop a strategic framework for military affiliated and non-traditional student programming.
- Develop and execute targeted recruitment strategies for adult and military-affiliated learners, in coordination with the Office of Admissions.
- Monitor enrollment trends, student retention, and completion outcomes; develop data-driven interventions to improve success rates.
- Build prior learning assessment (PLA) and credit-for-military-training policies in alignment with ACE recommendations and SACSCOC accreditation standards.
- Cultivate and sustain relationships with military commands, regional employers, workforce development boards, and Georgia Quick Start to create clear workforce pipelines.
- Negotiate and administer contracts with military installation education offices and third-party tuition assistance platforms (e.g., GoArmyEd, ArmyIgnitED).
- Represent the university at state and national conferences on military and adult education.
- Supervise a team of program coordinators, advisors, and support staff; foster a collaborative, student-centered culture.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure responsible stewardship of resources, including grant funds where applicable.
- Serve as the Primary VA School Certifying Official (SCO) and prepare institutional reports for federal, state, and accrediting bodies.
- Ensure compliance with SACSCOC, USG Board of Regents policies, and all applicable federal regulations (Title IV, Title IX, FERPA).
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education administration, adult education, counseling, student affairs, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, with demonstrated focus on military-affiliated populations, adult learners, or continuing education.
- Working knowledge of VA educational benefits programs, DoD tuition assistance, and related federal regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with program development, strategic planning, and data-informed decision-making.
- Proven supervisory and budget management experience.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Prior U.S. military service or significant professional experience working directly with military installations or veteran-serving organizations.
- Experience within the University System of Georgia and an adjacent University System.
- Familiarity with military tuition assistance portals.
- Knowledge of prior learning assessment frameworks and competency-based education models.
- Experience pursuing or managing federal grants.
