Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Director of Language Labs and Lecturer of Spanish on the Dahlonega campus. The Language Lab Director supervises and directs the Lab Coordinators in the operation of the Language Laboratories on all campuses. The director will also teach two Spanish courses a semester. This position is administrative and instructional. The Director is the main point of contact with the Modern Languages faculty, as well as the contact for the Distance Learning department.

Responsibilities
- The Language Lab Director will:
- Work with faculty to design and develop computer-assisted language exercises. Research and advise faculty in the consideration and selection of software and digital tools for the lab.
- Develop curriculum to support language instruction using language lab technology and D2L.
- Manage the lab budget which includes personnel and the lab fee, projecting lab needs for budget requests and recommending equipment and technology purchases
- Supervise and train lab coordinators and assist faculty on lab management system.
- Communicate and coordinate with the IT department regarding computer/network related issues.
- Teach two language courses for the Department of Modern Languages in the fall and spring semesters.
- Attend professional conferences and meetings to remain current with emerging technologies and best practices in language learning.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Report directly to the Head of the Department of Modern Languages.
- The Lab Director will also hold the position of Lecturer of Spanish and will:
- Teach two Spanish courses a semester
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must demonstrate a strong background as a team player
- Must have a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain exemplary working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators
- Must demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize duties
- Terminal degree preferred in a foreign language, instructional technology, curriculum and instruction, curriculum design, or a related field
- At least 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish
- A minimum of three years of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Computer experience with learning management systems (D2L preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Advanced knowledge of Spanish. Almost half of our courses in the department are Spanish, so the successful candidate must be able to create activities and help students in that language
