Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid works to ensure that qualified students have the opportunity to study at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill regardless of their ability to pay. The office serves students at all levels, including graduate and professional school students and coordinates all student financial support for the campus. The office assists in the recruitment, retention and success of students while maximizing available funds, exercising good stewardship of those funds, and performing related research, analysis and program evaluation in support of long-range enrollment and campus goals. In addition, the office provides academic and co-circular support services for scholarships, provides financial literacy and educational tools, and partners with faculty and other student success areas across campus to provide excellent service to low- and middle-income students and other scholarship recipients. The work of the office is public in nature and closely scrutinized by students and their families, lawmakers, faculty and staff at the University, and by the media (local, regional, and national).
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an individual to serve as a Coordinator for Career Development and Outcomes and Career Coach for the Carolina Covenant Scholarship Program in the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid. The Carolina Covenant is a financial aid package and network of support that provides an opportunity for students who qualify to attend and graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill debt-free. The Covenant meets full financial need through grants, scholarship and work-study – no loans. The Covenant also offers academic, career, and well-being support to help Covenant Scholars thrive at Carolina and beyond.
The Coordinator for Career Development and Outcomes and Career Coach will support the Assistant Director with implementing the overarching career development strategy for Covenant Scholars. Responsibilities include individual career coaching with scholars; administration of the Career Accelerator program; hosting career chat drop-in hours; supporting the administrative processes and application review for our professional development grants; identifying opportunities to grow new and existing partnerships across campus and the community; and supporting the collection, assessing, and interpretation of outcomes data. The Coordinator for Career Development and Outcomes and Career Coach will be invited to join team meetings, retreats, and signature student events in order to gain greater insight into the operations of a large scholarship program.
The Anticipated Structure Of This Position Is
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.

- 40% administration of career development programming and initiatives, including the Career Accelerator
- 40% coaching students individually
- 10% general administration / housekeeping time
- 10% other duties as assigned

Management Preferences
- Experience designing, coordinating, or assessing career development programs, workshops, or student success initiatives in a higher education or nonprofit setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide individualized career coaching, including career exploration, internship or job search strategies.
- Knowledge of and commitment to supporting the unique strengths, challenges, experiences of low-income, first-generation, or underrepresented college students.
- Experience building collaborative partnerships with campus departments, employers, community organizations, or other stakeholders to expand student opportunities and engagement.
- Experience tracking student outcomes, analyzing program effectiveness, or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
