Job Summary
The part-time security officer is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the College of Eastern Idaho (CEI) property, staff, faculty, students, and visitors. The goal of the security staff is to make certain that the campus is a safe, friendly, and orderly environment.
Typical Job Functions
Maintains accurate records of criminal incidents, accidents, security concerns, and vehicle registration
Assists with investigations involving security related matters
Performs general maintenance of all equipment for the campus security department
Enforces CEI parking and traffic regulation
Patrols college property to include the parking areas, grounds, and buildings
Ensures that areas are free from safety hazards, and that buildings are locked or unlocked as required
Maintains daily crime logs
Performs other job-related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of the CEI vision and mission
Ability to interpret CEI policies and procedures
Demonstrated organizational skills
Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain accurate, current, and coherent logs
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet resources, security cameras, and other equipment routinely used by security personnel
Must possess a valid driver's license to operate CEI vehicles
Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn’t sponsor H-1B Visas)Additional Desired Qualifications
Experience in security, law enforcement, or military
Experience in a college/university public safety/security department
Bilingual (Spanish)

Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing duties, the employee may be regularly required to stand or sit for extended periods, walk long distances, use hands to handle, hold or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
The employee may be required to work in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and high noise levels.
Uniforms
The college will provide a uniform polo and pants, pen and pencil, notepad and flashlight.
The college requires but does not provide a watch, non-steel toed boots or uniform shoes or hem service for uniform pants.
On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Background Investigations
Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
