(Primary Location for Job Responsibilities) Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.

Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Job Summary

Responsible for supporting the Site Director in all Horizons activities, operations, and programmatic elements in both the summer and school-year programs. This position will be assisting the Site Director with fundraising, program logistics, program communication, marketing, and social media platforms for the Horizons program. Will also be responsible for building strong relationships with Horizons students, families, staff, and volunteers, as well as partners in the Paulding County School District and Kennesaw State University. The primary goal of Horizons is to reverse the trend of summer learning loss that adversely impacts the long-term success of students ranging from rising 1st ' 9th grades.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages electronic platforms to host newsletter and school-wide communication. Updates website with parent information, menus, special events, etc. Establish and maintain effective

parent communication.

  • In support of the Site Director, when needed, assist with grant-writing, special events, and publications to support the implementation of the annual fundraising plan (examples will include

proofing grants, assisting with the assembly of grant proposals, and offering any insights into new ways to seek funding, or phrasing of appeals, if applicable.

  • Assists Site Director in developing and maintaining relationships with donors, including individuals, community organizations, foundations, and corporations. Motivates and supports the efforts of volunteer fundraisers, including the Advisory Board. Works with local businesses to develop and promote fundraising nights.
  • Assists in overseeing the development and maintenance of administrative systems related to fundraising, including acquisitions, renewals, and acknowledgements. (Involves all aspects of

grant applications/reports to foundations, solicitations/acknowledgements to corporate and individual donors.)

  • Assists in maintaining professional and effective working relationships with individuals, organizations, community leaders, public schools, and Horizons¿ Advisory Board, National

Horizons staff, local Horizons part time staff, and volunteers.

  • Assists in maintaining a working relationship with the Horizons Atlanta Office and other affiliates. Oversees and maintains positive relationships with partner organizations and community groups (partners in education, fundraising nights, community outreach, etc.)
  • Assists Site Director in overseeing the development of marketing and public relations materials.
  • Supervises the Instructional Team: Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, Interns, and Specialists. Interviews, hires, supervises and evaluates staff, i.e., academic teachers and specialty teachers with the Site Director. Oversees recruitment, scheduling and training of staff and volunteers. Assists the Site Director with managing hiring paperwork for staff.
  • Coordinates, plans and leads teacher orientation and curriculum planning meetings to implement a strong and successful summer curriculum that is thematic, project based, and

helps students develop reading and math skills. Creates summer and year-round schedules. Develops plan for academic programming, enrichment activities, and field trips.   • Plans events with students and parents (Info Sessions, Student/Parent Orientations, End of Program Celebration). Participates in bi-weekly Horizon¿s Site Directors meeting and workshops

throughout the year. Schedules educational presentations, weekly study and field trips, swimming lessons, and in-house enrichment sessions. Develops year-round activities to engage student learning and enrichment activities throughout the school year.

  • Analyzes Horizons assessments to determine educational effectiveness of program. Observes student¿s engagement: academically and socio-emotionally to converse with the instructional team regarding interventions and student-centered solutions.
  • Assists with food service process. Coordinates the completion of National Horizons Data Instruments (Staff survey, financial spreadsheets, program content survey, parent, and student

questionnaires).

  • Manages program related databases.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education

Other Required Qualifications

Current, valid Georgia Teaching certificate

Required Experience

Five (5) years of teaching experience

Experience teaching elementary school

Experience designing curriculum in a child centered, risk-free environment for elementary aged students

Relevant experience in educational program administration, fundraising, grant writing, budgeting and fiscal management

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education or related field

Preferred Experience

Experience with social media platforms, fundraising, and marketing strategies a plus

Experience working with low-income families and/or diversity communities
