Job Summary

The School of Arts & Sciences seeks dynamic applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of

Teacher Education. This is an academic year (10-month) position beginning August 1.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses primarily in elementary and/or middle grades -

  • Teach undergraduate courses primarily in elementary and/or middle grades general pedagogy and instructional methods in mathematics Be willing to teach courses in educational foundations as needed.
  • Prepare syllabi that align with course and departmental learning outcomes; implement research-informed and practice-based learning experiences with teacher candidates; and assess course learning outcomes in a variety of informal, formal, and performance-based means.
  • Participate in academic advisement and engage in service to the Department of Education and Teacher Preparation, College of Coastal Georgia, and the profession.
  • Produce scholarship/research as relevant to the position.
  • Participate in program review and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty and PK-12 partners to support the success of programs and students.
  • Teach in hybrid or online modalities as needed.
  • Travel to, supervise, and mentor teacher candidates in clinical field experiences.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field with a mathematics specialization from an accredited institution.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Expertise in mathematics education. Please upload all evidence of training or certification in Additional Documents.
  • Experience with in-service or pre-service teacher preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support collaboration with a variety of educational stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • At least three years of full-time teaching experience at the elementary or secondary level.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience

  • Experience teaching undergraduate education courses centering on instructional methods in mathematics and general pedagogy.
  • Teacher candidate field supervision experience.
  • Experience teaching in online synchronous and asynchronous modalities.
