The Media, Culture and the Arts Department builds on a solid foundation in the liberal arts to guide students toward their academic goals while preparing them for society. MCA coursework develops expertise in the visual arts, music, media production, writing, communication, and modern languages.
Job Summary
The Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts within the School of Arts & Letters at MGA is seeking candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art. This position will support the growing art program by teaching 2D and 3D art courses on the Macon and Cochran campuses.
Responsibilities
This position involves teaching a 4/4 course load, scholarship, service and student advisement. Teaching responsibilities may include day and/or evening classes, online and/or hybrid courses. Travel between campuses (Cochran, Dublin, Macon, and Warner Robins) will be required.
Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
M.F.A. in studio art or related field.
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver courses at the foundational and advanced undergraduate level in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, 2D or 3D design.
Interest in and commitment to contributing to the growth and evolution of a dynamic art program.
Student-centered approach to teaching with a strong commitment to engagement.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
Active involvement in creative practices and demonstrable experience with juried exhibitions or equivalent scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Experience with online and/or hybrid delivery of coursework.
Experience with curriculum development
Experience with printmaking, murals, or other forms of commercial art.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of traditional studio practices.
Expertise in 2D and 3D design.
Ability to contribute to multiple programs such as the current painting concentration and potential 3D art concentration, art therapy concentration and/or art history minor
