The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Equipped with the most technologically advanced facilities located on a university campus, the college is dedicated to safeguarding public health by studying emerging infectious diseases that affect both animal and human health.

Position Summary

The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two tenure track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor rank. Each candidate will be expected to establish a dynamic and externally funded research program as well as contribute significantly to the Department’s teaching mission in undergraduate, graduate or professional DVM courses. Special importance is placed on instruction in the Biomedical Physiology undergraduate major. Candidates will mentor graduate and undergraduate students as well as postdoctoral research associates.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must have 2 years’ postdoctoral experience in Physiology or a related field, along with at least 1 year of teaching experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And/or Competencies

An ideal candidate will have a research program with an emphasis in either cardiovascular, renal, respiratory or gastrointestinal physiology and knowledge of computational biology approaches. Candidates should also have a commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement.

We seek outstanding candidates with active research programs applying innovative approaches, including animal/human models of disease as well as computational biology and/or emerging AI technologies in the study and instruction of physiology. Scientists who address fundamental or applied questions in cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, or gastrointestinal physiology are encouraged to apply.

Physical Demands
