Job Summary
This position requires demonstration of a strong commitment to excellence in teaching with the potential to travel between campuses: Macon, Warner Robins, Cochran and Dublin. Teaching responsibilities may vary with regards to program type: Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program, Pre-Licensure Bachelor of Science Degree Program, RN-BSN (on-line and face-to-face) Completion Program, and the Masters of Science in Nursing Program.
Responsibilities
Students
Fulfills faculty workload requirement through excellence in teaching, course-related advisement and other activities.
Participates in student-faculty activities that serve to strengthen student-faculty relationships.
Participates in student advisement and academic counseling.
Plans for clinical experiences for students during clinical rotation.
Supervised the clinical instruction of students.
Evaluates theoretical and clinical components of students¿ instruction.
Informs the coordinator of progress or problems encountered in the area of instruction.
Assists with maintaining necessary records and reports.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Department of Nursing
Assumes responsibility for assigned units of instruction and for unit exams.
Contributes to the ongoing development of the program through unit and course revision and refinement and the implementation of formative and summative evaluation processes.
Provides input in the Department of Nursing budget.
Participates in the selection and orientation of new faculty.
Establishes and maintains policies on selection, admission, promotion and graduation of students.
Participates in maintaining and updating the Skill lab and multimedia resources.
Maintains satisfactory relationships with cooperating agencies. Seeks out and evaluate new clinical resources.
Participate in campus-wide and departmental committees.
Assists the Department Chair in the development, implementation and evaluation of objectives and goals for the Department.
Submits annual professional objectives for the academic year to the Chair for the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Professional
Remains current with the changing trends in nursing education and practice.
Participates in professional and community activities related to the improvement of health care.
Maintains personal growth and development through ongoing faculty development activities.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Required Educational Qualifications
Master¿s degree with nursing major required.
Required Experience
1-2 years recent professional nursing experience.
Other Required Qualifications
Current unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse License
Evidence of continued professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Doctorate in nursing or related field preferred.
Preferred Experience
1-2 years of teaching experience in an academic or healthcare setting preferred.
