Advertised Job Summary
The faculty of the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, invites applications for a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 16, 2026.
Successful candidates will be expected to (1) develop an independent and externally funded research program in neuropsychology, (2) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of expertise (2 courses a semester) (3) supervise graduate research including within our APA-accredited Clinical-Community and/or School Psychology doctoral programs, and (4) contribute to departmental, college and university service.
Required Education And Experience
The position requires a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology or related field and evidence of a strong research record or potential for impactful scholarship by the start date of the appointment. This position reflects a high priority on brain health at the university and within the college. It also aligns with the development of a unique neurological hospital that will provide neurological and rehabilitation treatment.
Candidates must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in South Carolina within one year of the start date, with board certification or eligibility in clinical neuropsychology preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
We welcome applicants whose research bridges brain and behavior, including cognitive neuroscience, clinical neuropsychology, developmental neuropsychology or lifespan neurocognitive functioning. Research that complements or expands existing departmental strengths, including collaborations with the university’s centers and institutes (e.g., Institute for Mind and Brain, McCausland Center for Brain Imaging, Carolina Autism and Neurodevelopment Research Center) is desired.
