The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,200 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. A strategic goal of the college is to create an environment where the faculty, staff, and students can thrive and be personally and professionally respected.
The Department of Accounting within the College of Business at ECU offers courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and has approximately 500 undergraduate majors, 185 graduate students and over 20 faculty members. The department seeks to attract faculty of the highest caliber skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching and application of knowledge.
Job Duties
The Department of Accounting at East Carolina University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position beginning academic year 2026-2027. The position is open to all areas of accounting to assist new faculty members with the establishment of their research, a 6 semester hour teaching load is available for this position for the first two years, along with summer support. The normal teaching load of 9 semester hours will begin in year three. Additional duties include research/creative activities leading to publications as required for tenure as well as appropriate service to the university, community, and profession. This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning in August 2026.
Contingent upon availability of funds.
Minimum Education/Experience
This appointment requires a PhD with a concentration in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under SACS guidelines. Candidates with PhD newly conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the probationary rank of Assistant Professor. ABD candidates will also be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to their first reappointment. The position requires teaching excellence and strong scholarly productivity. Candidate is required to be a CPA.
