The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning's mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. Team Leadership & Development

  • Serves on the management team with the Director.
  • Establishes performance goals and measures to evaluate success of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to the Learning Experience Design and Learning Technologies teams.
  • Set clear expectations, model best practices, and build a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance management for team members across both functions.
  • Foster a team environment where varied backgrounds and experience levels are developed into shared, high-quality practice.

Learning Design Oversight

  • Ensure that courses and learning products meet established standards for instructional quality, alignment, accessibility, and learner experience.
  • Guide the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team through scalable course development workflows, including design, prototyping, production, quality assurance, launch, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a senior reviewer and decision-maker for instructional quality at key development milestones.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, product managers, and program directors to ensure learning design supports program goals.

Learning Technology Oversight

  • Oversee the administration and optimization of the Center's Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of learning technologies that support course delivery, learner engagement, and data collection.
  • Ensure technical systems are reliable, accessible, and integrated effectively with authoring tools, media platforms, and reporting infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain standards for LMS configuration, course setup, and technical quality assurance.
  • Support course delivery, learner engagement, learning analytics, and data-informed program improvement.

Operational Planning & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Participates in the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Director in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.
  • Translate strategic direction from the Director of Data and Learning Technologies into operational plans, workflows, and team priorities.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks, quality gaps, and capacity constraints across the course development and production workflow.
  • Coordinate across instructional design, learning technology, media, project management, and product management functions to ensure efficient course development and delivery.
  • Track and report on team progress, project milestones, and quality indicators to inform decision-making at the Director level.
  • Contribute operational and team-level input to broader planning conversations, including capacity forecasting and tool or infrastructure needs.

Expected Salary:

$125,000- $140,000

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Learning Sciences, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience in instructional design, educational technology, or learning engineering.
  • Experience building or scaling a course development workflow, including quality assurance processes and production standards.
  • Fluency with LMS and demonstrated ability to administer and optimize LMS environments.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design principles and experience overseeing or producing online learning content.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing learning technologies, including integrations with LMS platforms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and experience applying ADA/WCAG standards in a learning technology context.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or managing a team, including hiring, developing, and supporting team members.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical and design concepts to non-specialist audiences.
  • Extensive and profound experience with Articulate 360.
  • Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, or other eLearning standards and their implementation in LMS environments.
  • Experience working in higher education, nonprofit, or education-focused research environments.
  • Background in learning analytics, data reporting, or using engagement data to inform course improvement.
  • Experience with video hosting platforms (e.g., Kaltura) and their integration with LMS delivery.
