Job Overview

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Cincinnati invites applications for multiple full-time, non-tenure track Professor - Educator or Professor of Practice positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate in the Mechanical Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Programs. Salary and rank will be commensurate with credentials.

Essential Functions

Teach undergraduate engineering courses in the areas of systems and controls, motion control, logic control, circuits, and mechatronics in both the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) programs. Instructional delivery may be in a traditional classroom and/or laboratory setting.

Serve the department through activities such as committee membership, student group advising, accreditation assessment, and curriculum/program development.

As a Professor - Educator or Professor of Practice appointment, this position is primarily focused on teaching, complemented by service expectations. Although workload requirements are subject to change per departmental and college policy, the minimum expectation is that three (3) courses will be taught each semester, beginning with the initial semester post-hire.

Minimum Requirements

For an appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor - Educator, the following is required prior to the effective date of the appointment:

Ph.D. degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

Required

For an appointment as Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, both of the following are required prior to the effective date of the appointment:

Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field,

Three (3) years of relevant industry experience.Application Process

  • What would be your preferred instructional methods (demonstrations, lectures, hybrid, flipped, etc.)
  • How you will approach assessment, and
  • How your relevant industry (if applicable) or academic experiences will enhance your teaching effectiveness.
  • Names and contact information for at least three (3) references.

Further documentation, including letters of recommendation, may be separately requested by the search committee later.
