Educational And Experience Requirement
Associates Degree in related field. Four years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose Of Position
Performs complex administrative assistant duties for the Associate Dean for Student Success and Partnerships in the College of Education and the Associate Dean for Accountability and Assessment in the College of Education.
Primary Responsibilities
Performs complex administrative support assignments as directed by the Associate Deans. Conducts research as may be required for preparation and dissemination of information. Plans and coordinates appointments, events, workshops, meetings, conferences, etc. Prepares reports and maintains adequate records to include the collection, processing and disbursement of reports. Acts as liaison between University departments, students, faculty, administrator, staff, and distinguished guests to facilitate the goals and mission of the College of Education. Handles the budget including O&M, the Sam Houston Partnership and Schools (SHIPS), and University Supervisors which includes travel, supply, purchasing, and food orders. Assists in hiring staff and student assistants and submitting the necessary documents as part of the hiring process. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Communicates with other University departments, local vendors, and off-campus agencies. Involves financial management for multiple accounts in the departments of Teacher Education, the Sam Houston Partnership and Schools (SHIPS), Educator Preparation Services, Certification, and the Office of the Associate Dean. Conducts staff development and training.
This position requires sitting at a desk for extended periods, with occasional walking, standing, and the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
