The Instructor of Welding’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in Welding courses at the TSUS Polk County Center in Livingston, TX. The Welding Instructor reports directly to the Executive Director of Workforce. This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Hours vary depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend classes. This is not a posting for ONLINE instructors. Classes will be delivered at the Livingston, TX Polk County Education Center.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Actively engage students in the learning process
- Maintain ethical and professional behavior
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
- Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to, committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting
- Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
- Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
- Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
- Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
- Perform other related duties, as required
Minimum Qualifications
- An associate degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college
- Five years of work experience in Industrial Technology
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Possess good time management skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field
- Related field and/or industry certifications
