Position Summary:
American Sign Language Interpreting Adjunct faculty teach courses as assigned based on disciplinary needs, educational background, and experience. Faculty develop and/or present course materials as requested by the faculty lead or Assistant Dean of English, Communication, and Languages (ECL) and evaluate student progress in adherence with the core learning outcomes of assigned courses. Adjunct faculty are expected to adhere to ECL and College requirements, work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, and use varying teaching styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace. The position will be teaching in-person classes only.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant scholarly and professional tools and practices available in the field of interpreting.
- Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta-cognitive processes, and advancement of critical essential communication skills.
- Infuse multicultural and diverse perspectives into the instructional process as appropriate and conduct classes in a manner that demonstrates respect for individual and cultural differences.
- Model and cultivate open-minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem-solving.
- Maintain currency in academic discipline and pedagogy.
- Adhere to all disciplines and school wide expectations for professional training, instructional delivery, assessment, and student communication.
- National or regional (BEI advanced or master) certification in ASL Interpreting2. Minimum of 8 years of professional interpreting experience3. Two years of teaching or mentoring experience in ASL and/or interpreting4. Bachelor’s degree5. Member, Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
- Master’s degree in ASL Interpreting, ASL Linguistics, ASL Studies, or related discipline2. Three years of Interpreting teaching experience
