We are seeking a part-time CDL Truck Driver to join our Logistics team.
Job Summary:
This position is vital in fostering and maintaining strong relationships between the company and its customers by providing dependable and efficient transportation services. This role is responsible for executing scheduled pickups and deliveries in accordance with company productivity standards. Duties may include loading and unloading trailers, with or without assistance or mechanical equipment, while ensuring freight safety and preventing damage. Drivers must follow assigned routes as directed by the Logistics Office and comply with all operational and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Claims Prevention
- Ensure claim-free handling freight pickup and delivery operations.
- Collaborate with the Overage, Shortage & Damage (OS&D) to report discrepancies at the time of delivery.
- Provide feedback/suggestions to dock supervisors on loading practices to reduce freight damage.
- Apply O S & D labels (provided in driver's notebook) when necessary.
Safety
- Maintain safe driving record as required in P & D Manual - SAF 006.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe in various conditions, including heavy traffic, adverse weather, or tight loading dock areas.
- Conduct pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspections ;report equipment issues immediately.
- Keep vehicle interiors clean and ensure proper loading and placarding.
- Report all accidents, delays or irregularities immediately.
- Submit required documentation in compliance with DOT and InServ policies.
- Participate in random DOT drug testing program.
- Safeguard freight and equipment at all times.
Communication
- Understand freight characteristics and provide regular feedback to Logistics Manager.
- Participate in driver meetings and stay informed through internal communications.
- Use company-issued phone to update Logistics on pickup and delivery status and any issues encountered.
- Support new technologies and processes aimed at improving efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Class A or B CDL with no history of frequent violations or accidents.
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Minimum one (1) years of commercial driving experience OR CDL school certification
- One year of tractor-trailer/flat bed experience preferred
- Must pass a company road test and meet DOT physical requirements.
- Must comply with DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections, and hazardous materials.
- Proficient in English for communication and documentation, per FMCSA standards
- Must be able to operate mobile communication systems and complete paperwork accurately.
- Commitment to customer service and teamwork.
- Must meet the Company's minimum qualified driver's requirements, as defined by the Safety Department.
- Must be able to work required hours.
- Must wear steel-toed shoes/boots and adhere to InServ uniform policy
Physical Requirements:
- Carrying: Occasional, up to 50 lbs., up to 40 feet
- Pushing/pulling: Occasional, up to 70lbs. of force, up to 100 feet
- Lifting - Floor to Knee, Knee to Waist, Waist to Shoulder: Occasional, up to 50 lbs.
